Skyline Conference Releases Fall Coaches’ Preseason Polls

New York, NY| The Skyline Conference released the results of its 2015 fall Coaches’ Preseason Polls on Thursday morning, and among the favorites are several St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) programs.

The women’s cross country team forecasts as the runaway favorites to repeat as conference champions in 2015, claiming 10 of 11 possible first-place votes. The men, who finished second at the Skyline Championships last season, have been tabbed to again finish as runners-up.

Also coming in at second place in their respective polls are women’s tennis and men’s golf. The two outfits look to take the next step after falling just short of Skyline titles in 2015.

Women’s volleyball, who returns 2015 Skyline Conference Player of the Year Heather Ferchland, checks in at third with one first-place vote and 84 points in its poll. The Lady Eagles fell to Mt. St. Mary’s in the semifinal of the Skyline Tournament last season after entering the postseason as the #2 seed.

Men’s soccer, which made a surprise run to the Skyline Tournament final after entering as a #5 seed, has been tabbed to finish third, grabbing one first-place vote and 75 points. Women’s soccer—under the direction of incoming head coach Nic DeZenzo—finished fifth in its poll with 60 points.
