SJC Jumps to 116th in Final Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings

Written by Andrew Capitelli (SJC-LI Sports Information)

Westlake, OH| St. Joseph's College (L.I.) recorded its best-ever showing in the Learfield Directors' Cup Division III final standings, which were updated on the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) website on Wednesday afternoon.

The Directors' Cup was established in 1993-94 and is "a program that honors institutions maintaining a broad-based program, achieving success in many sports, both men's and women's." Institutions earn points based on the number of conference championships they win and how they finish in NCAA postseason events.

In a year that saw five SJC programs win five Skyline Conference titles (men's golf, women's cross country, women's soccer, women's lacrosse and baseball) and earn six NCAA postseason berths—both department bests—the Golden Eagles finished tied for 116th with Swarthmore College with 170 points. Williams College of Williamstown, MA finished first out of the 324 Division III schools earning points.

Nine of the Skyline Conference's 11 members appeared in the final standings, with SJC finishing first amongst them. Old Westbury (50 points) was 120 points behind in second.
