Patchogue, NY| Last Friday, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted its first annual Blue and Gold Night and collected over 100 toys to benefit the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation.

Since 1947, the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program has been making wishes come true for needy children. The mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign in conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

"I believe we had a great turnout of athletes for our event," said SAAC vice-president Luke Brown. "A great amount of toys were donated and it was great opportunity to give back during the holiday season."

"It was great to see all the Golden Eagles come together for a great cause," SAAC Moderator Joshua Soto stated. "The guys really enjoy giving back and there is no better way than to help make a child's holiday special."
