Baseball Raises $1,200 for Relay For Life

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) baseball team partnered with the St. Joseph's College's Relay for Life and raised $1,200 for the American Cancer Society, which uses donations for cancer research.

The team, along with head coach Richard Garrett, made the donations on Friday April 28 before the SJC's Relay For Life Walk on April 29.

"My players realize how blessed they are to have the opportunity to live a normal life and to play baseball," said Garret. "They want everyone to have the same opportunity. It's a small amount but every little bit helps."

"This year we couldn't make it to relay for life because we were away (at Purchase College) that day, so instead we all donated our meal money for the day so that we could still do our part for this important cause," said team captain Matt Burnett.
"We (the baseball team) always like to help out when we can and we're glad we could do so again this year."
