New York, N.Y. – St. Joseph’s College garnered three Skyline Conference Player of the Week awards and one Rookie of the Week award in the Skyline Report for October 13. 

The following Golden Eagles have been honored:

Senior forward Jennifer Martino (East Patchogue, N.Y./Bellport) won the Women's Soccer Player of the Week after amassing 11 points on four goals and three assists in a 2-1 week for the Golden Eagles.  She scored the game-winner and added two assists on Oct. 6 in a 5-0 win versus John Jay. In a 6-0 conference victory over Maritime, Martino tallied a pair of goals and added an assist. She also scored a goal on Oct. 10 in a 3-2 loss to Mount Saint Vincent.

Junior midfielder Justin Heredia (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) shared the Men's Soccer Player of the Week honor with Daniel Amar of Yeshiva.  Heredia scored a pair of goals and assisted on the game-winner as SJC earned a 3-1 victory at Mount Saint Mary on Oct. 11.  The tallies were his first two goals of the season.

Also sharing an honor was volleyball’s senior setter Julianne Tierney (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) as Women's Volleyball Co-Player of the Week with Helen Putriment of  Sage.  Tierney averaged 8.43 assists, 3.43 digs and 1.71 kills over seven sets as SJC improved to 4-0 in Skyline play with victories over Maritime (3-0) and Mount Saint Mary (3-2) on Oct. 11.  She amassed 40 assists, 16 digs and eight kills in a five-set thriller versus MSMC and recorded 19 assists, eight digs and four kills in two sets against Maritime. 

Freshman Shannon Merker (Flanders, N.Y./McGann Mercy) picked up the  Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week award as she earned a pair of wins at No. 1 singles and added two victories at No. 1 doubles as St. Joseph's enjoyed a 2-0 week with wins over Bard (7-1) and Sarah Lawrence (9-0).  She registered a 6-2, 6-2 decision on Oct. 6 against Bard and a 6-2, 6-1 victory on Oct. 10 against Sarah Lawrence.

Women's soccer freshman forward Kristin Carroll made the Skyline's Honor Roll as she tallied three goals and a pair of assists in a 2-1 week.  Sophomore Erika Hasselbirg of women's tennis also made the Honor Roll as she earned two victories at fourth singles and added a pair of wins at No. 2 doubles in a 2-0 week for SJC.
