PATCHOGUE, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury men's basketball had its six-game win streak snapped Wednesday when the St. Joseph's (L.I.) Golden Eagles captured a 75-51 Skyline Conference victory at home inside Danzi Center.  Old Westbury (12-7) moves to 11-3 in conference play with the loss while the Golden Eagles (8-12) improved to 7-8.

Old Westbury held its largest lead of the game as Jamail Stanley broke the scoring ice 59 seconds into play with a three pointer.  The Panthers would last hold a lead at 19-17 when Cody Zafran landed a three pointer at the 6:11 mark.  From there, C.J. Capilets connected on a three ball to put St. Joseph's (L.I.) up for good, 20-19, with 4:59 remaining in the half. 

After holding a 23-22 lead at intermission, St. Joseph's (L.I.) outscored Old Westbury in the second half, 42-29, as the Golden Eagles built a five-point lead to 14 (46-32) off a 12-3 run from 12:03 to 7:44.  The Golden Eagles grew their lead to a game-high 19 points (65-46) off Fernando Vazquez's three pointer with 1:15 showing on the second-half clock. 

Stanley paced the Panthers with 17 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals to record his fifth-consecutive double-double (ninth of season).  P.J. Page followed with 10 points (4-of-8 FG, 2-of-3 3FG) and Stephon Odle added nine.  Keith Lackerson nabbed two steals off the bench.    

Vazquez finished with a team-leading 17 points for St. Joseph's (L.I.).  Dominique Spann contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds while Isaiah Moore chipped in with 14 points. 

Old Westbury connected on 30.2 percent (16-of-53 FG) from the field, 24 percent (6-of-25 3FG) from three-point territory and 61.9 percent (13-of-21 FT) from the free-throw line.  By comparison, St. Joseph's (L.I.) sank 48 percent (24-of-50 FG) from the floor, 43.5 percent (10-of-23 3FG) from beyond the arc and 53.8 (7-of-13 FT) from the charity stripe.  Old Westbury won the boards battle, 39-31, scoring 11 second-chance points off 10 offensive rebounds.  The Panthers also held the advantage in steals (8-7) and scored 20 points off 16 Golden Eagle turnovers.        

PURCHASE PANTHERS UP NEXT FOR OLD WESTBURY: Old Westbury returns home Saturday (Feb. 6) to take on the Purchase Panthers in Skyline Conference action at 12 p.m. inside Clark Athletic Center.  Old Westbury will look to complete the series sweep of the Panthers after claiming a 72-55 road victory (Box Score) on January 16.
