2012 ECAC Metro Baseball All-Star Team Announced

(Press Release from ECAC)

CENTERVILLE, Mass.--The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2012 Division III Metro Baseball All-Star team on Tuesday.

Thomas Daly, a senior utility infielder out of Baruch College, is the ECAC Player of the Year after batting .404 and slugging .616 through the City University of New York Athletic Conference playoffs. A two-time CUNYAC MVP, Daly has been honored this season as an All-New York Region Second Team pick by the American Baseball Coaches Association and was third-team all-region by D3baseball.com. He finished the year with a Baruch-record 52 runs batted in. He also earned the Rawlings Gold Glove honor at first base for the entire New York Division III Region.

Kean University senior Ryan Zamorsky is the ECAC Pitcher of the Year after helping lead the team to another NCAA Division III World Series berth. Prior to the national tournament, Zamorsky compiled an 8-1 record, 49 strikeouts and a miniscule 0.84 earned-run average in 75.1 innings of work. He is the fifth Cougar in program history to earn first-team All-America accolades from the ABCA. The Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Tournament last week has also been named the Pitcher of the Year by the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) and New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association (NJCBA) while recently earning D3baseball.com second-team all-America honors.

Freshman third baseman Kevin McMenamin, from Rowan University, is the ECAC Rookie of the Year after hitting .412 and slugging .518 through the NJAC tournament. McMenamin was selected to the D3baseball.com Mid-Atlantic Region second team as a utility player, leading the Profs in batting average. McMenamin was also chosen the Rookie of the Year in the NJAC and by the NJCBA.

2012 ECAC Metro Coach of the Year Jose Torres also was named the CUNYAC Coach of the Year for the first time. Torres has overseen a major revitalization of the Baruch baseball program since taking over five years ago. Since his hire, he has won two CUNYAC tournament championships, finished second twice, and led the team this past season to a record-22 wins and the Bearcats' first postseason berth since 1977.

The head coaches, or his/her designee, within the ECAC membership voted on the teams and individual awards.
