Patriiss' Gem Extendes Eagles Win Streak to Five

Patchogue, N.Y. – The men's baseball team (7-9) improved its winning streak to five games with a, 4-0, victory over the Red Dragons of Oneonta State (3-9). Sophomore Glenn Patriss (Wading River, N.Y. / Riverhead) pitched all nine innings to earn the three-hit shutout win.

The Golden Eagles were able to get on the board first in the bottom of the second. Designated hitter Dan Diblasi (Lindehurst, N.Y. / Lindenhurst) led off with a single to center then advanced to second in the next at-bat off a single by leftfielder Matt Ginobbi (Nesconset, N.Y. / Smithtown East). An error by the right fielder scored Diblasi, two at-bats later. Vincent Reda (Middle Village, N.Y. / St. Francis Prep) walked to load the bases. Joseph Calabrese (Westbury, N.Y. / W.T. Clarke) went down swinging, bringing up senior Brian Hannigan (West Babylon, N.Y. / St. John the Baptist). Hannigan drove in one with a single to left and was followed up by a single by Alex Ras (Merrick, N.Y. / Calhoun), bringing in one more.

Glenn Patriss had an outstanding game on the mound, allowing only four base runners the entire game, and struck out four to earn his first victory of the season. Diblasi, Hannigan, and Ginobbi each recorded two hits.
