Aloisio & Diblasi Earn All-Skyline Second Team Honors

2013 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM

New York, N.Y. – Purchase senior Ronald Echavarria has been named the 2013 Skyline Baseball Player of the Year in voting conducted among the Conference's nine head coaches. 

The Skyline coaches also selected Miller Lulow of Purchase as Pitcher of the Year, Adam Brant of Purchase as Rookie of the Year and Bill Guerrero of Purchase as Coach of the Year.  In addition, Yeshiva received the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Echavarria leads the Skyline in batting (.481), slugging percentage (.792), total bases (84) and home runs (seven) while ranking second in on-base percentage (.550) and hits (51).  The Bronx, N.Y., native was tabbed the NCBWA National Hitter of the Week for the week of Apr. 8-14 and has compiled 34 RBI and 29 runs scored.     

Lulow boasts a 6-0 record and a 1.21 earned run average with 41 strikeouts in 59.1 innings pitched.  The senior righthander from New York, N.Y., has appeared in 18 games and is holding opposing hitters to a .198 batting average while registering a pair of complete games and one shutout in six starts.

A two-time Pitcher of the Week selection and one-time Rookie of the Week honoree, Brant (3-2) holds a 2.37 earned run average and has surrendered 25 hits – including just five extra-base hits - in 38 innings pitched.  The Hyde Park, N.Y., resident tossed the second no-hitter in program annals on Apr. 13 in the Panthers' 1-0 victory over Mount Saint Mary.   

Echavarria and Lulow are joined on the All-Conference first team by Michael Dolce, Ron Remi, Mike Scarlato, Eric Wiener and David Zilnicki of Farmingdale State; Old Westbury's John Angelino, Alex DiSanto, Jonathan Pagan and Brian Walsh; Michael Sarni and Josh Spielberg of Purchase; and Mount Saint Mary's Vinnie Carminati. 

The second-team All-Conference includes Mike Aloisio and Dan Diblasi of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Maritime's Thomas Bauer; Anthony Finch of NYU-Poly; Farmingdale State's Daniel Paccione and Tom Rydzewski; Matt Paz, Justin Sherman and Dan Stroud of Purchase; and Old Westbury's Arismendy Nunez and Paul Valerio.  

Now in 11th season at Purchase, Guerrero guided the Panthers to a program-best 12-4 mark in league play and the No. 3 seed in the 2013 Skyline Championship.  At 21-17 overall, Purchase earned the program's second-ever berth in the ECAC Metro Tournament and will face Richard Stockton on May 8.  Guerrero reached the 100-win milestone on Mar. 23 and is a 1993 graduate of the University of Connecticut.
