Baseball Picked Fourth in 2014 Skyline Coaches Preseason Poll

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Having won the last six league championships, Farmingdale State has been selected to capture the 2014 Skyline baseball title n voting conducted by the league's nine head coaches. 

FSC earned six first-place votes and 62 overall points.  The Rams welcome back senior righthander Michael Dolce, a first-team All-Conference and ABCA/Rawlings All-Region selection a year ago after posting a 6-1 record with a 0.75 earned run average.    

Having compiled 55 victories over the past two seasons, Old Westbury finished second in the coaches' poll as it garnered three first-place votes and 59 overall points.  The Panthers welcome back senior Alex DiSanto, who registered a league-best and program-record 13 saves in 2013 en route to earning All-Conference first-team distinction. 

ECAC runner-up Purchase – under the direction of first-year head coach Adam Taraska - finished third in the voting with 47 points, followed by St. Joseph's-L.I. (38), Maritime (36), Mount Saint Mary (35), Mount Saint Vincent (23), NYU-Poly (14) and Yeshiva (9). 

The six-team Skyline Baseball Championship will commence on Wednesday, Apr. 30, with a pair of elimination contests, followed by a double-elimination weekend (May 2-4) for the four remaining teams.
