Golden Eagles Win Game One, Get No-Hit in Game Two by Maritime

Throggs Neck, N.Y. – The Eagles (7-11, 3-2 Skyline) split the doubleheader with the Maritime Privateers (7-13, 4-3 Skyline), winning the first game 6-2 but failed to produce any hits or runs in game two as they lost 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.

SJC struck first in the second inning with an RBI double by Brian Godoy (Coral Springs, FLA/Coral Springs) that drove in Joseph Calabrese (Westbury, N.Y./W.T. Clarke) who was hit by a pitch as he led off the inning. Anthony Bonilla doubled with one out and Dan Diblasi (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) stepped up to the plate and hit a two-RBI double to extend the lead. Maritime added a run in the sixth but the Eagles responded with three runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach for the Privateers.

Glenn Patriss (Wading River, N.Y./Riverhead) picked up the victory in game one pitching seven innings and allowing one run on seven hits while striking out three. Diblasi went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Godoy was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Eagles could not get their offense going in the second game. Maritime scored two runs in the third on an error and two more runs in the fourth on a two-RBI single. Only four runners reached base for the Golden Eagles as Trevor Cannella completed his seven inning no-hitter against SJC. He walked just one and struck out two.
