William Paterson Snaps Baseball's Four-Game Win Straek

Patchogue, N.Y. – The SJC Golden Eagles (13-10) hosted a non-conference showdown against the William Patterson Pioneers (17-8) on Tuesday afternoon but the final decision of the game didn't go their way as they lost 8-4 in the late innings. St. Joseph's went into the top of the ninth with the lead, however they weren't able to shut the door and the Pioneers took advantage.

SJC was able to draw first blood in the game, scoring the first run in the bottom of the third by way of an Anthony Bonilla ground out. Joseph Lynn was the runner on base who touched the plate putting the first run up on the board.

This lead would only last a couple innings, as the Pioneers wouldn't go down that easy. In the top of the fifth, the Pioneers scored two runs giving them their first lead of the game.  AJ Flores came to the plate with two runners on and smacked a double off of SJC starter Kurt Robinson, giving up his first runs of the game.

Heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Pioneers would have a 3-1 lead against SJC, however, this wouldn't last too long. The Golden Eagles answered back with a big inning, scoring three runs off four hits. Anthony Andreani and Joe Calabrese both doubled, combining for three RBI's in the inning. With this rally, the score would be 4-3 in favor of SJC.

Frank Trionfo (1-2) came in for the save attempt in the top of the ninth, but couldn't prevail. The Pioneers just wouldn't go to rest, as they rallied one more time. In a monster inning, they posted five runs coming off of four hits. This lead was too much for the Golden Eagles to come back from and the final score stood at 8-4.

St. Joseph's will look to turn it around on Wednesday night, facing the Lehman College Lightning at 6:00 p.m. at Gregg Alfano Field in another non-conference matchup.
