Baseball Defeats College of New Rochelle, 10-7

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College baseball team picked up a non-conference win over the College of New Rochelle, 10-7, on Friday evening at Gregg Alfano Field.

The Golden Eagles even out at 14-14 on the season with the Blue Angels falling to 7-12.

St. Joseph's jumped out to a 7-0 lead through the first three innings before the Blue Angels got on the board with a run in the top of the fourth.

SJC got RBI's from Louis Fontinha and Tyler Sanderson in the bottom of the fourth and fifth, respectively, extending the lead to 9-1.

New Rochelle tacked on a run in the top of the seventh and a pair in the top of the eighth cutting the deficit to 9-4, but an RBI single up the middle by Anthony Raucci drove in Sanderson putting the Golden Eagles into double figures at 10-4.

Three unearned runs crossed the plate for the Blue Angels in the top half of the ninth, but Jesse Nakashian got Albert Rodriguez to foul out behind third base to hang on to the 10-7 win.

Matthew Burnett, Sanderson, Raucci, and Dan Campanelli all recorded two hits for the Golden Eagles. Campanelli also pitched in with two RBI's and two runs scored.

SJC sent six pitchers to the mound combining to allow just one earned run with seven strikeouts. Tim Woodford picked up his first win of the season allowing one run on two hits with five K's in four innings.

The Golden Eagles return to Skyline Conference action on Saturday, April 21 when they host Purchase College. First pitch is slated for 12:00 pm.
