Baseball Topped by Denison in Final Day of Gene Cusic Classic

Ft. Meyers, FL| The St. Joseph's College baseball team wrapped up the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic with an 11-1 loss to Denison University on Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles move to 6-4 on the season as Denison improves to 10-1.

SJC scored their lone run in the top of the second inning when an RBI double by Anthony Raucci scored Daniel Campanelli who doubled to start the inning.

Denison answered with two runs in the bottom half of the inning and maintained control for the remainder of the game as they put up four runs in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 6-1. The Big Red tacked on a run in the sixth before a four-run eighth moved the game to its final 11-1.

Raucci led the Golden Eagles at the plate going 3-for-4 with an RBI.

SJC's starter Anthony Papa was tagged with the loss allowing two runs on one hits 1+ innings.

The Golden Eagles open up Skyline Conference play on Saturday, March 23rd when they travel to the College of Mt. St. Vincent for a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 12:00 pm.
