Baseball Earns 12-4 Win over CCNY

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College baseball team claimed a 12-4 non-conference win over the City College of New York at Gregg Alfano Field on Thursday evening.

The Golden Eagles improve to 18-16 on the season as the Beavers fall to 10-17.

SJC grabbed an early lead with a couple runs on the bottom of the first and an RBI single up the middle by Tyler Costa in the second moved the score to 3-0.

A four-run bottom of the third widened the gap to 7-0 before the Beavers were able to get on the board with a run in the top of the fourth.

The Golden Eagles pushed across four runs in the fourth before CCNY plated three in the top of the sixth making it 11-4. The home team tacked on another run in the bottom half of the six and went on to cruise to a 12-4 win.

Costa went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs, two stolen bases, and a run scored. Anthony Raucci was 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored.

SJC starter Tim Woodford earned his team-leading sixth win allowing just one run on four hits with six strikeouts on five inning.

The Golden Eagles close out the regular season on Sunday, April 28 when they host New Jersey City in a non-conference double header. Game one is slated for 1:30 PM.
