St. Joseph's Trots into First Place at Hofstra Horse Show

Medford, N.Y. — The Golden Eagles cantered into first place with 36 points on Sunday at their fourth horse show of the season hosted by Hofstra University at Country Farms in Medford. Second place Hofstra University finished with 31 points and Stony Brook University came in third with 30 points. 

The Eagles' performance was one of the best they've had this season with several first place accomplishments. Caitlyn Kempsey (Hauppauge, N.Y./ Hauppauge) came in first for the Walk, Trot; Rachel Russak (Huntington, N.Y./ Smithtown Christian) in Novice Flat; Melissa Mausser (Holbrook, N.Y./ Sachem East) in the Intermediate Flat and Novice Fences; and Leah Uliano (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place) in the Intermediate Flat.  Both Lexi Metz (Manorville, N.Y./ Eastport-South Manor) and Nikki Nobile (Amityville, N.Y./ St. John the Baptist) placed first in the Walk, Trot, Canter.

Mausser had an exceptionally stellar day as, on top of her two first place wins, she also classed out of Novice Fences and will now compete in Intermediate Fences. Most impressively, Mausser competed in a ride off for the title of high point rider against an open rider from Columbia University and won, becoming the high point rider of the day.

Melissa Mausser - Intermediate Flat: First Place, Novice Fences: First Place

Kim McKeon - Novice Flat: Second Place

Lexi Metz - Walk Trot Canter: First Place

Nikki Nobile - Walk Trot Canter: First Place

Maclain Palumbo - Novice Flat: Second Place

Nicole Robinson - Novice Fences: Fifth Place

Heidi Rohr - Walk Trot Canter: Second Place

Rachel Russak - Novice Flat: First Place

Leah Uliano - Intermediate Flat: First Place, Intermediate Fences: Fifth Place

The Golden Eagles will travel to Huntington on Sunday for a show hosted by Molloy College at the Thomas School of Horsemanship.
