Golden Eagles Equestrian Awarded Champion Title at Regionals

Leonia, N.J. – On Sunday, March 22, six Golden Eagles' riders competed against some of the most skilled riders in the region for the end of season Regional Championships show at the Bergen County Equestrian Center. Regionals were hosted by Columbia University and were followed by an award presentation where SJC was recognized as Regional Champions - a title they won last week.

The Golden Eagles will now go on to compete at the Zone 2 Championships on April 4 in Pittsford, N.Y.  Stony Brook University was named Reserve Regional Champions.

SJC's Leah Uliano (Miller Place, N.Y./ Miller Place) placed first in the Novice Flat and Rachel Russak (Huntington, N.Y./ Smithtown Christian) placed first in the Walk Trot Canter.

Uliano, Russak, Maclain Palumbo (Wheatley Heights, N.Y./ Half Hollow Hills West), and Lexi Metz (Manorville, N.Y./ Eastport- South Manor) qualified to individually compete at Zones.

Individual Results from Regionals:

Melissa Mausser: Intermediate Flat- Third Place. Novice Fences- Third Place

Leah Uliano: Novice Flat: First Place Champion. Intermediate Fences- Second Place Reserve

Maclain Palumbo: Novice Flat- Second Place Reserve Champion

Rachel Russak: Walk Trot Canter- First Place Champion

Lexi Metz: Walk Trot Canter- Second Place Reserve Champion
