Scrappy Eagles Edged by the Rams in Tight Contest

Patchogue, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College Golden Eagles (4-10, 2-5 SKY) fell to the Farmingdale Rams (10-4, 6-1 SKY) in a thrilling, tightly-wound, Skyline Conference game Wednesday night at the Danzi Athletic Center, 65-59.

The visiting Rams led from the 14:43 mark of the first half but the game was close throughout as the pesky Eagles nipped at the Rams heels the whole way.  The Golden Eagles trailed by only one point as late as 2:40 left in regulation at 59-58, and never fell behind more than six points early in the second half.  In fact, the game was tied at 42 with 12:13 left, but the home team could never overtake their conference rivals.

Eagles' junior forward Cody Lohsen (Centereach, N.Y./Centereach) led all scorers with a game-high 18 points and a team-high eight rebounds.  Sophomore guard Brady Colucci (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Port Jefferson) finished with a career-high 17 points and five boards in his second start of the season.  Sophomore forward Jordan Kowalski (North Babylon, N.Y./Abilene) chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

Leo Esonwune led Farmingdale with 14 points and seven rebounds.  AJ Matthews had a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) and P.J. Davis scored 12.

With the victory, Farmingdale sits firmly in second place in the Skyline behind Old Westbury (12-3, 7-0 SKY), while the Eagles fall into a seventh place tie with Mount Saint Vincent (5-9, 2-5 SKY).  The Eagles will get their first look at the first place Old Westbury Panthers when they host them this Saturday at 5:15 p.m. in the Danzi Center.
