St. Joseph's Bombs Pratt Cannoneers in Home Mismatch, 110-23

Patchogue, N.Y. - The St. Joseph's College Golden Eagle's (5-4) offense exploded in their most dominant performance of the season, launching past the Pratt Cannoneers (5-5), 110-23, to extend their win streak to four games on Friday night at the Danzi Center.

In the lopsided SJC victory, the Eagle's shot 61.5% from the field hitting 48-for-72 to tally their highest offensive total of the season, while holding their opponent to a measly 17% field goal percentage.

The Golden Eagle's night was nearly record setting, scoring totals that almost matched the highest score in SJC history - 115 points - which dates back to a contest against Maritime College in the 1998-99 season. The fewest points scored against the Eagles in program history was 16 against Webb Institute in the 1992-93 season.

The Eagle's were strong from the first play of the game, scoring the six unanswered points; Billy Heenan (Amityville, N.Y. / Amityville) accounted for four of the first six points.  Fernando Vazquez (Babylon, N.Y. / Babylon) led the relentless Eagle offense in the first half hitting 5-of-8 shots.  SJC would go on to dictate the rest of the half by going on two runs of 17-0 and 19-0 to score a tremendous 61 points against Pratt's 12.

St. Joseph's brought their fiery intensity into the second half and continued to build on their lead.  The Golden Eagle's offense was running on all cylinders flashing brilliant moments, which was apparent in Sean McCarthy's (Kings Park, N.Y. / Kings Park) strong power moves in the paint, Vazquez two-hand slam over a defender, Nick Gallina's (Holbrook, N.Y. / Sachem North) no-look dishes, and Isaiah Moore's (North Babylon, N.Y. / North Babylon) fancy euro-steps.

The largest lead of the night was 87 points with 2:13 remaining.  The depleted Pratt squad consisted of six total players, and were down to five in the second following a foul-out.

St. Joseph's College received good offensive play throughout the entire team with five players accumulating double-digits in points. Vazquez had the game-high 21 points, freshman guard Stephan Cohen (Selden, N.Y. / Newfield) and guard Brady Collucci (Port Jefferson, N.Y. / Port Jefferson) managed 13 points each, McCarthy and Evan Mohammed tallied 11 points apiece. Collucci led the Golden Eagles in rebounding taking down eight boards and also added a dunk. Gallina had an all-around solid performance with eight points, five boards, nine assists and three steals.

The next Golden Eagle contest will be the annual "East vs. West" game against sister school-St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn (6-3) in a non-conference rivalry matchup next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Brooklyn.
