Men's Basketball Beats Mt. St. Vincent for Third Straight Win

Riverdale, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's men's basketball team (8-5, 5-1 Skyline) continued to roll through their Skyline Conference schedule on Thursday night, topping Mt. St. Vincent (8-5, 4-2 Skyline), 73-68, for their third straight win.

The balanced SJC scoring attack was once again led by Sean McCarthy who notched a double-double and led all scorers (21 points) and rebounders (12 boards) with game-highs.

Also finishing with double digits in points for the Golden Eagles was Andy Laurent with 16 points and seven assists off the bench.  He was joined by Billy Heenan with 14 points and five rebounds and Evan Mohammed tallying 12 points.

St. Joseph's shot an impressive 48% from the field and 50% (8-for-16) from three-point range.  They outrebounded the Dolphins, 40-36, in a game that featured six lead changes and three ties.

SJC had a 37-35 halftime lead, but lost it early in the second.  They then started to pull away with 15 minutes remaining.

The Golden Eagles may face one of their toughest tests of the season at home on Saturday when they face the 9-3 Sage Gators (4-2 SKY) who are riding their own three-game win streak.  The Skyline Conference game is scheduled for 3 p.m. and is part of a doubleheader with the women's team, which is also taking on Sage.
