Sean McCarthy Gets Honorable Mention for MBWA Award

New York, N.Y. – St. Joseph's men's basketball player Sean McCarthy was cited as Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Men's Divisions II-III Honorable Mention for the week ending February 15.  The designations from the MBWA, for games played Feb. 9-15, are unique in that they encompass players from 74 Met area schools across Divisions I, II and III.

McCarthy, a senior forward, was the recipient of this week's Skyline Men's Basketball Player of the Week award for the fourth time this season after averaging 21 points in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles. 

The Kings Park, N.Y. native and graduate of Kings Park High School averaged 21 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 15-of-26 from the field.  He scored a game-high 22 points and added eight boards on Feb. 11 in the Golden Eagles' 81-66 win over Maritime.  In a 92-58 victory over Mount Saint Vincent on Feb. 14, he had 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting.  McCarthy had six three-pointers, four steals and committed just three turnovers in 65 minutes of action on the week.
