Patchogue, NY| St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team alumnus Joseph Savaglio recently signed a professional contract with the Glasgow Storm of the Scottish National League--the second tier of British basketball.

Savaglio made his professional debut on September 30 and went for 12 points and eight rebounds in an 82-67 victory over the Bouroughmire Blaze. In the following game, a 60-51 win over the Tayside Musketeers, the forward recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

"Joe was always a tireless worker during his two years as a Golden Eagle," said SJC men's basketball team head coach Kevin Spann. "I couldn't keep him out of the gym after practice or the weight room in the summer. He's a fierce competitor and I'm happy to see his career continue internationally."

Savaglio, who earned a degree in Business Administration from St. Joseph's this past May, happened to be traveling internationally following graduation and attended a tryout for the Storm. In addition to playing for the Storm's senior team, Savaglio coaches a youth team part time and travels across Glasgow instructing youth basketball programs.

In Savaglio's final collegiate season the Harborfields, NY native posted a 46.7 three-point field goal percentage which established a new program record. Savaglio was a key contributor in a home win versus the eventual Skyline Conference champion SUNY Old Westbury on February 3 when he scored 10 points. On February 14 he established a career-best of 11 points on 4-for-6 shooting in a 66-56 victory over SUNY Purchase.

During his time with the Golden Eagles, Savaglio appeared in 32 games across two seasons and averaged 2.2 points- and 1.7 rebounds-per-game.
