Riverdale, NY| Five Golden Eagles scored in double digits as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team toppled the College of Mount St. Vincent, 72-59, in a Skyline Conference contest in Riverdale, NY on Saturday afternoon.

With the win SJC improves to 3-9 on the season and 3-1 in conference play and sits in third place in the South Division standings. The loss sends the Dolphins to 2-10 on the year and into last place in the South Division with a 0-4 conference mark.

Senior Andy Laurent shared a game-high 13 points with Mt. St. Vincent's Ammad Alkhulaidi on 4-8 shooting from the field. Fellow senior Fernando Vazquez (4-5 FG, 10 rebounds) went for 11 points and dished out the 100th assist of his career.

Freshmen Joe Santoro (4-5 FG, 3 steals), Frank Basile (4-6 FG) and junior transfer Jarred Marrow--who made his SJC debut in the match--all registered 11 points each.

A tight first half saw the Golden Eagles take a one-point lead (16-15) midway through the period before stringing together a 14-4 run across the remaining 9:57 to take a 30-19 lead into the break.

A strong second-half start by the hosts ensured they remained within an arm's reach of SJC and eventually the Dolphins would overtake the guests (52-49) with 8:46 remaining in regulation.

Junior Stephen Cohen would sink a three-ball 29 seconds later to knot the score up at 52 and the bucket would spark a crippling 16-0 run saw St. Joseph's pull ahead 65-52 before claiming the 72-59 win.

For the second-straight game SJC outshot its opponent from the field (47.2%-34.8%), from three (35.3%-23.1%) and from the charity stripe (76.2%-58.3%). St. Joseph's also held advantages in points off turnovers (25-13) and points in the paint (34-28).
