Men’s Basketball Snaps Losing Streak with 70-45 Win at Sarah Lawrence

Bronxville, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 70-45 victory over Skyline Conference rival Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY on Tuesday evening.

The win sees the Golden Eagles improve to 5-19 (5-14 Skyline) on the season as the Gryphons slip to 4-20 on the year and 3-16 in conference play.

Senior Isaiah Moore shot 9-for-18 from the floor and posted game-best numbers in points (23) and rebounds (12).

Sophomore Frank Basile (16 points) and senior Stephen Cohen (15 points) also scored in double-digits. Junior Jonah Caldwell went for seven points and matched Moore with 12 rebounds in the contest.

In a game that saw six lead changes, SJC fell behind 10-8 early but rattled off 12 of the next 14 points to go ahead 20-12 9:22 into the first half. St. Joseph's run would be matched by the Gryphons, though, who scored 15 of the half's final 20 points and entered the break up two (27-25).

A strong start to the second saw the guests take a 16-point lead (50-36) midway through the second, and from there they held off the opposition en route to a 70-45 victory.

Better from the field (41.5% to 31.7%), SJC also held advantages from three (38.9% to 27.8%) and the charity stripe (75.0% to 27.8%).

Additionally, St. Joseph's dominated the paint, outscoring the Gryphons 38-28 and outrebounding them by a 49-37 margain.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their 2017-18 season on Saturday, February 17 when they host Skyline Conference foe Mount St. Mary College. Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm. Senior Day ceremony precedes the action.
