Men's Basketball Drops Skyline Contest to Yeshiva

New York, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team slipped to 2-5 (1-3) overall on the year after suffering a 92-68 road defeat to Yeshiva University (3-5, 3-2) in a Skyline Conference contest on Tuesday evening.

Senior Mike Harris led the Golden Eagles with team-best point (22) and rebound (8) totals.

Junior Brad Weiss scored in double-digits (18) for the second-straight game, and sophomore Anthony Simpson shot 3-for-6 from the field and contributed 11 points off the bench.

Ryan Turrell (23 points), Gabriel Leifer (22 points) and Simcha Halpert (21 points) combined for 66 of Yeshiva's 92 points. Leifer also grabbed a a game-best 16 rebounds.

Hot from the start, the Maccabees went up 29-12 midway through the first half and eventually took a commanding 54-32 lead into the break.

SJC was much better in the second half but was still outscored 38-36 in the period. Thirteen of Harris' points came in the second frame off of 4-for-10 shooting from the field.

Yeshiva outshot SJC from the field, 50.6% to 41.0%, and also outrebounded the guests 42 to 34.

St. Joseph's was the better side from the charity stripe, boasting a 92.9% conversion rate in contrast to the Maccabees' 85.7%.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, December 8 when they host St. Joseph's College (Brkln) for a Skyline Conference contest at 3:00 pm.
