Basile Garners ECAC Metro Player of the Month Honors

Danbury, CT| The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) released its monthly award winners for January on Wednesday afternoon and amongst the winners was junior Frank Basile of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's basketball team, who was named Division III Metro Region Player of the Month.

In 10 games in January, Basile posted team-high averages in points-per-game (22.8) and rebounds-per-game (7.7). The guard shot 45.2% from the field and 44.0% from the three and was credited with eight total steals.

Basile scored 30+ points on two occasions and broke the 20-point plateau seven times last month. In a loss to SUNY Old Westbury on January 31, the Islip, NY native shot 14-for-23 from the field, 7-for-11 from three and matched a career-high of 35 points.

The junior added three double-doubles to his team-leading total of 10 in January and, before play on Wednesday afternoon, led the Skyline Conference in scoring (20.7 PPG). His performances throughout the month yielded three Met Basketball Writers Association Divisions II-III Weekly Honorable Mention nods, two Skyline Weekly Honor Roll accolades and a Skyline Conference Player of the Week honor. 

Basile and the men's basketball team return to action on Saturday, February 9 when they visit SUNY Purchase for a Skyline Conference contest at 2:00 pm.
