Michael McSloy Tabbed SJC Men's Basketball Coach

Patchogue, NY| St. Joseph's College (L.I.) Vice President & Senior Director of Athletics & Recreation Shantey M. Hill is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael McSloy to the position of head coach of the institution's men's basketball team.

"I would like to thank Shantey Hill and the members of the search committee for trusting me to be the next men's basketball coach at St. Joseph's College," said McSloy. "I feel very fortunate for this tremendous opportunity and I look forward to leading the men's basketball program to future success." 

McSloy arrives in Patchogue from Gettysburg College where he served as assistant men's basketball coach for the 2018-19 season. As recruiting coordinator, McSloy garnered commitments from 12 student-athletes from eight different states. He also directed the scouting of all opponents and formulated the program's off-season training program.

From 2016 to 2018, McSloy was assistant coach of the New York University men's basketball team and helped develop three All-UAA Players and a conference Rookie of the Year.

McSloy held assistant coach positons at Vassar College (2015-16), Connecticut College (2013-15) and SUNY Maritime (2012-13) before working at NYU. At the latter, McSloy played two seasons as a junior and a senior from 2010 to 2012 and earned Skyline All-Conference Second-Team accolades. The Kings Park, NY native spent the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons at SUNY Oswego and was the 2009 Team Attitude Award winner.  

A 2013 Maritime graduate with a degree in International Trade and Transportation, McSloy has worked with Elite/Exposure Basketball Events & Camps since 2013.
