Malloy and Tabada Collected D3Hoops.com All-Region Nods
Patchogue, NY| Sophomore Spencer Malloy and freshman Alec Tabada were named All-Region Third-Team and Rookie of the Year, respectively, for Region 3 when D3Hoops.com released its end-of-season regional awards on Tuesday morning.
Malloy and Tabada took home Skyline All-Conference First-Team and Rookie of the Year selection, respectively, when the conference released its awards on February 28 and are the first SJC men's basketball players to earn D3Hoops.com All-Region accolades since Darryl Charles won All-Atlantic Region Second-Team honors in 2013-14.
Tabada averaged 13.5 points-per-game this season and finished top-10 in the conference in steals-per-game (1.9), blocks-per-game (1.2), field goal percentage (49.4%), and free throw percentage (66.0%).
The North Babylon, NY native was named ECAC Metro Rookie of the Month for January and earned Skyline Rookie of the Week honors four times this season.
Malloy, a three-time Rookie of the Week himself, finished ninth in the conference in scoring (15.2 PPG) and fifth in rebounding (8.0 RPG). Additionally, he was third in field goal percentage (54.9%).
Malloy and Tabada were just two of four Skyline Conference student-athletes to receive D3Hoops.com All-Region accolades, joining Yeshiva duo Ryan Turell and Gabriel Leifer.
