Golf's Bleck Wins Share of Farmingdale Invitational Crown, Ties School Record

Bethpage, N.Y. - After a not so stellar performance on day one (April 5) of the Farmingdale State College Invitational, the Golden Eagle golf team of St Joseph's College posted an outstanding score of 313 on day two of the competition at Bethpage State Park.  The team was led by its' number one player, freshman Christian Bleck, who shot a day two score of even par 70 – tying his own SJC record.

This is the second time this year in which Christian has posted a score of 70 - matching his team individual scoring record that he posted earlier this season at the Golden Eagle Invitational.

Bleck's two day scoring total of 78-70 (148 total) tied him for the individual low score for the tournament with Centenary College's number one player, Steve Kluemper.

Bleck won the one-hole playoff with a par four on the 18th hole at the Bethpage Red Course and was awarded first place medalist honors.

This was Bleck's fourth first place finish in tournament competition this 2012-2013 season,-setting a new team and individual record for the St Joseph's program.

Fellow freshman teammate, Robbie Bray, finished tied for tenth with rounds of 76-80 (156 total).  This was his best score this season in team competition.

"The men's golf team is young, but has improved and gained experience in each outing, which will prove to be invaluable in future competitions.  Consequently, the future performances of the team look to be very promising," said head coach George Cangero.
