St. Joseph’s Finishes Sixth at Hamilton College Invitational

Utica, N.Y. – The Golden Eagles fell short on Saturday, nine strokes behind the leader, New York University. St. Joseph's finished with a team score of 303 in the rain-shortened competition.

In the previous tournament, the Eagles tied the school record for lowest team score. Just one week later, they broke their own record much to the delight of head coach George Cangero. "I could not be more proud of their performance and the manner in which they conducted themselves," Cangero said.

Christian Bleck (St. James, N.Y./Chaminade) turned in another stellar performance as he finished with a 3-over-par score of 74. This was good enough for a fourth place finish, just four strokes off the lead.

Robert Bray (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham) and John Melandro (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham) weren't far behind their teammate Bleck as both finished with a score of 76. Zac Campanelli (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport Blue Point) was just one stroke behind them with a 77. Keith Zorn (Manorville, N.Y./Eastport South Manor) finished with an 87 and Patrick Waters (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) ended the day with an 84.

The team competes this Thursday in its' own Golden Eagle Invitational at Island Hills Country Club in Sayville with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
