Men’s Golf Takes Second at Abbreviated St. Joseph’s Invitational

Bellport, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's golf team shot 19 strokes off of eventual champion Adelphi University and placed second in an abbreviated St. Joseph's Invitational on Saturday at the Bellport Golf Club.

With a score of 343 (+59) on day one, SJC secured a second-place finish when day two was canceled due to inclement weather.

Adelphi shot 324 (+40) and SUNY Old Westbury claimed third place with a score of 369 (+91). Nassau Community College (375) and Suffolk County Community College (385) took fourth and fifth, respectively.

Faring best for the Golden Eagles was Vincent Garofalo, who shot an 82--seven strokes off of individual champion Nick Kelapire (75) of Adelphi.

Patrick Standard and David Doolin finished tied for seventh with 85's, and Joseph Tantillo (86) took ninth place.

Michael Nadeau (92) wrapped the SJC scoring contingent with a 16th-place finish.

The Golden Eagles wrap up their 2017-18 season when they participate at the SUNY Old Westbury Invitational on Friday, April 20 at Swan Lake Golf Club (Manorville, NY).
