Patchogue, NY| Senior Scott Reece tallied eight goals as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team earned a 13-9 come-from-behind victory over Western Connecticut State (1-1) at home on Wednesday in what was the program's first-ever competitive game.

Reece went for eight goals on 13 total shots and was also credited with one assist. Juniors Jack Murray and Casey Hickey both found the back of the net twice, and senior Josh Shaw dished out a game-high three assists.

The Colonials were led by Eric Caldwell and John Foristall who collected two goals apiece.

Reece would score the first goal in program history when he took a feed from Murray at 9:49 of the first quarter to put SJC up 1-0 early. The Medford, NY native's second mark of the game, with 1:48 to play in the first, saw the Golden Eagles up 3-1 before taking a 3-2 lead into the second.

With Reece's third goal at 5:34 of the second, the hosts doubled up Western Conn., 6-3, but soon fell behind 8-7 at 12:00 of the third following a 5-1 run by the Colonials.

Down 9-8 to start the fourth, the Golden Eagles would score the final five goals of the game--four of which came off the stick of Reece--en route to a 13-9 victory at Danzi Stadium.

Freshman Keeper Andrew Yoli was credited with five saves on 14 shots, and fellow classman Declan Canevari won 14 faceoffs.

In total, SJC generated 47 shots to Western Connecticut's 29 and also held the advantage in ground balls (33-26).

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 4 when they host Manhattanville College for a 7:00pm contest at Danzi Stadium. Live stats for the game will be available here.
