Newburgh, NY| Despite a four-goal performance by senior Scott Reece, the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team suffered an 11-9 loss to Skyline Conference rival Mount St. Mary College on the road on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss the Golden Eagles slip to 3-3 on the year (0-2 Skyline) as the Knights improve to 3-4 (1-1 Skyline).

Reece's four goals were a game-high and came off 14 shots. Pitching in with two goals apiece were Brandon Riley and Casey Hickey. Josh Shaw dished out a team-best three assists.

Goalkeeper Andrew Yoli made eight saves on 19 shots.

The Knights jumped out to an early 2-0 lead 3:16 into the game but tallies from Riley (9:57) and Shaw (9:13) knotted the game at two.

A late-quarter mark ensured Mt. St. Mary took a 4-2 lead into the second period, but Reece brought one back for the guests with a goal 3:02 into the frame.

Outscoring the Golden Eagles 4-3 through the rest of the third quarter, the Knights carried a 9-6 advantage into the fourth, where they heaped on three more tallies to build a commanding 11-6 lead.

A pair of goals from Reece and one from Hickey in the final four minutes of the game wrapped the scoring as MSMC held on for the 11-9 win.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, March 29 when they hit the road to face the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in a Skyline Conference showdown at 7:30 pm. Live video and stats will be available here.
