Scranton, PA| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team earned a 9-5 road victory over Marywood University (1-4) on Saturday evening and improved to 2-1 overall on the year.

SJC was led by freshman Tim McCann, who scored a game-high three goals on six shots. The attackman also caused two turnovers and scooped up three ground balls.

Junior Chris Neilsen went for two goals and four ground balls while junior Kyle Levantino and freshman Anthony Passarella contributed one goal and one assist apiece.

Sophomore Adam Sivon made 10 saves on 13 shots in the first half to earn his first win of the season. Freshman Andrew Brust played the second half and made six saves on eight shots.

Marywood's Matt Mitarotonda went for two goals and two assists for a game-high four points.

For the third-straight game SJC fell behind early, this time by two goals, but McCann's first tally of the evening with 5:29 to play in the first quarter ensured the deficit was just one goal (2-1) at the start of the second.

The Golden Eagles outscored Marywood 3-1 in the second quarter and took a slim 4-3 lead into the second half before expanding their advantage to three goals (6-3) when sophomore Mike McCarthy and Passarella each scored inside the third quarter's opening two minutes.

Up 8-5 in the fourth, Nielsen capped off the scoring with an unassisted tally with 5:11 to play (9-5).

SJC led in most statistical categories including total shots (39-35) and ground balls (39-28). Junior Declan Canevari went 10-4 on faceoffs.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday, March 14 when they visit SUNY Oneonta for a non-conference contest at 4:00 pm.
