Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Oswego, 12-2, on Wednesday

Patchogue, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's lacrosse team suffered a 12-2 non-conference defeat to SUNY Oswego at Danzi Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The loss sends the Golden Eagles to 3-2 overall on the year as the Lakers improve to 2-2.

Freshman Matt Trautman and sophomore Mike McCarthy tallied for SJC in a contest that saw the hosts outshot 44 to 26.

Sophomore Adam Sivion made seven saves in the first half and took the loss in goal. Freshman Andrew Brust made 10 saves on 14 shots in the second half.

Oswego opened the scoring 56 seconds into the contest but the Golden Eagles responded five minutes later and tied the game at one when McCann scored off a feed from junior Kyle Levantino.

A 6-0 run by the guests that began midway through first and ran through the end of the second enabled them to take a 7-1 lead before entering the break up 8-2.

Three more tallies in the third and sole marker in the fourth clinched Oswego's 12-2 victory.

SJC turned the ball over 32 times but held a 43-32 edge in the ground ball department.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, March 23 when they face DeSales University at North Shore High School in Glen Head, NY at 2:00 pm.
