Coast Guard Sinks Eagles, 1-0, to Take 3rd Place Smith Tournament Trophy

Patchogue, N.Y. – A late goal by the Coast Guard Academy's Lukas Benedetto with a shade over one minute remaining in the game, earned the Bears the third place trophy in the inaugural Gary Smith Invitational Tournament via a 1-0 win.  The host St. Joseph's Golden Eagles drop to 0-5 to start their season while Coast Guard improved to 2-0-1.

Coast Guard outshot St. Joseph's 24 to 6 during the contest.  Golden Eagle goalkeeper Niko Petratos saved 11 shots on goal and Richard Burns of Coast Guard tallied three on his own.  Burns was named to the all-tournament team as he also made eight saves in Saturday's 1-1 tie with New Paltz.

Up next for St. Joseph's are two home games with Rutgers-Newark on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Centenary next Saturday at 1 p.m.
