Eagles Edge William Paterson in Non-Conference Action, 2-1

Patchogue, N.Y. — The Golden Eagles (3-11-2) were triumphant on Wednesday night against the William Paterson Pioneers (7-5-2), outhustling the visiting team in the crucial second half of play and coming away with the win.

After an uneventful first half, the Eagles were hungry to put some numbers on the scoreboard.  At 45:10, only ten seconds into the second half, Gaetano Innamorato (West Babylon, N.Y./ West Babylon) flew down the right side of the field, dribbled past defenders, shot and scored, effectively bringing the crowd to its feet and putting SJC at a one point advantage.

SJC didn't wait long to strike again. At 52:06, Chris Hall's (Mastic, N.Y./ William Floyd) corner kick found Terrence Dzus (Central Islip, N.Y./ Islip) in the box who then headed the ball out of the keeper's reach and into the back of the net.

The Pioneers attempted a comeback with a goal at 56:00, but there efforts were too little too late as SJC's defense denied any further advances on their end.

Golden Eagle keeper, Avery Gomez (Bay Shore, N.Y./ Bay Shore), saved five out of six shots on goal while SJC had a total of four shots on goal as a team.

The Eagles will travel to Riverdale, N.Y. on Sunday for a Skyline Conference match against Mt. St. Vincent.
