Eagles Second Straight Win Puts Them in Skyline Conference Tournament

Brooklyn, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's Golden Eagles (5-12-3, Skyline 4-3-2) continued their recent offensive assault against another Skyline Conference opponent. This time, the Eagles outflew the Fighting Blue Jays of Polytechnic (1-14-1, Skyline 0-9) to the tune of a 6-2 victory. St. Joseph's has outscored their last two opponents 15-4.

Enrique Tirado (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's) got the Eagles off to a fast start. In the 7th minute, he beat the keeper for the early advantage. Nearing the end of the first half, Chris Hall (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) found the foot of Robert Gomez (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) to put the Eagles up two going into halftime.

Captain Terrence Dzus (Central Islip, N.Y./Islip) wasted no time continuing the onslaught in the second half. Less than a minute into the half, Dzus put the Eagles up three, sending the Fighting Blue Jays into a downward spiral.

Dzus, Gaetano Innamorato (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon), and Kevin Deutsch (Medford, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) added three more goals in a five minute span to give the Golden Eagles a commanding 6-0 lead and assure them a spot in the Skyline Conference Tournament.

With just fifteen minutes remaining, St. Joseph's pulled the starters, opening up a window for Polytechnic. The Fighting Blue Jays would get on the scoreboard with two goals, but the whistle blew and the Eagles were victorious.

The Golden Eagles will travel to Mount St. Mary this Saturday for the first round of the Skyline Tournament.
