M. Soccer's Dzus and Alves Named ECAC Metro All-Stars

CENTERVILLE, Mass. — The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2013 Division III Metro Men's Soccer All-Stars today. Rutgers-Newark junior Raphael Araujo (North Plainfield, N.J.) has been selected as the 2013 Offensive Player of the Year, while William Paterson University junior Marcus Hackett (Montclair, N.J.) was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Year. Stockton College freshman Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Heights, N.J.) was named the Rookie of the Year. The voting was completed by coaches within the ECAC Division III Metro Men's Soccer membership.

Araujo led the Scarlet Raiders to the most successful season in program history and its first appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament. He netted 27 goals this season and added six assists for a total of 60 points. Rutgers-Newark won a total of 17 games this fall, and Araujo scored the game-winning goal in eight of those games. He finished the year No. 2 in all of NCAA Division III Men's Soccer in total goals, third in total points and goals per game (1.17 avg.), and fourth in points per game (2.61 avg.). Araujo was also named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III All-South Atlantic Region Second Team and selected as the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Co-Offensive Player of the Year.

Hackett anchored a Pioneer defense that posted six shutouts this season. He recorded six goals and three assists for 15 points in 2013 and started 20 of the team's 21 games. Hackett helped lead William Paterson to the 2013 ECAC Division III Metro Men's Soccer Championship final, which included an upset of regional top-seed Drew University. For his efforts, Hackett was named to the NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region Second Team as well as the All-NJAC First Team.

Colofranson is the 2013 ECAC Division III Metro Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year after scoring 14 goals and dishing out nine assists for 37 points during the regular season. He totaled six game-winning goals and finished third in the NJAC in points. He took home Most Outstanding Player honors at the 2013 ECAC Division III Metro Men's Soccer Championship after scoring the game-winning goal in the Championship final. Colofranson was also named the NJAC Rookie of the Year and earned a spot on the All-NJAC Second Team.
