Men’s Soccer Trains at West Point to Get Ready for 2014 Season

West Point, N.Y. – St. Joseph's head coach Tim Trava and the Golden Eagles men's soccer team traveled to the United States Military Academy at West Point on Saturday, August 23 to train with the Army Prep soccer team.

They were welcomed on campus by Army head coach Evelardo Deleon and were then introduced to the lifestyle and daily activities of an army cadet.  Both teams shared some time getting to know each other and learning names.

The teams were split as training began, allowing the St. Joseph's athletes to work with some of the cadets.  Both teams worked extremely hard throughout the day, pushing each other and making each other better.

The rest of the day was spent touring beautiful West Point and checking out some of the amazing sites it has to offer.

The SJC student-athletes ate lunch at Trophy Point, overlooking the Hudson River - what is known as the "Million Dollar View."  The team learned about the history of the campus and about the great leaders of our country that once roamed West Point.

The Golden Eagles team left with a new sense of pride, determination and commitment.  They also departed knowing this experience is something they will never forget.

Coach Trava is hoping the team will grow together after sharing this special day together.  "It was an honor to share the field and train with such dedicated and honorable men and women.  I know my boys learned the true meaning of commitment after sharing the day with them.  I cannot thank Coach Deleon enough for the opportunity and allowing us to join them."
