Patchogue, N. Y. – The FDU-Florham Devil's (2-2) placed third in the 2014 Gary Smith Invitational Tournament after defeating tournament host-St. Joseph's College (1-4), 1-0.
The first and only goal of the game came in the 64th minute when FDU-Florham's AJ Carnevale beat SJC's goaltender Avery Gomez (Bay Shore, N.Y. / Bay Shore) off a pass that came across the box from teammate Chaz Armand.
The FDU-Florham Devils put immense pressure on St. Joseph's for the majority of the contest by outshooting the Golden Eagles 16-6.
Avery Gomez was able to keep the Eagles alive in the game by stopping 10 of the 11 FDU-Florham's challenges.
St. Joseph's will remain home for their next opponent, Yeshiva University, in their first Skyline Conference game of the season this Thursday, September 11 at 8 p.m.
Arcadia University captured first place in the Gary Smith Invitational Tournament by defeating Newbury College 3-0 in the championship game.
