Men's Soccer Nips NJCU, 1-0, for Sixth Win of Year

Patchogue, N.Y. — The Golden Eagles (6-11, SKY 3-3) only scored one goal in their match against The New Jersey City Gothic Knights (1-12-3) on Monday night, but that was all they needed.

The Eagles were relentless offensively from the opening whistle. It only took five minutes and twenty nine seconds for their efforts to pay off as junior Alex Guadagno (South Setuaket, N.Y./ Ward Melville) converted a breakaway into the first and only goal of the night.

SJC took eight more shots on goal over the course of the remaining 85 minutes of play but couldn't find the back of the net for a second time. The Eagles' defense successfully worked to ensure that the one goal was all they needed to win. Keeper Avery Gomez contributed seven saves in this defensive effort.

Consequently, with the final buzzer came the Golden Eagles' sixth win of the season, the final score of the match 1-0.

The Golden Eagles will travel to Riverdale on Saturday for a 1 p.m. Skyline Conference match against the College of Mt. St. Vincent.
