M. Soccer's Kull & Heredia Named to 2014 All-Skyline Team

New York, N.Y. – St. Joseph's junior midfielder Justin Heredia and sophomore defender Cody Kull have been named to the 2014 Men's Soccer All-Skyline Conference Team in voting conducted among the Conference's ten head coaches. Both Golden Eagles are first time selections to the team.

Senior forward Matt Garcia of Mount Saint Mary has been named the 2014 Skyline Men's Soccer Player of the Year.

The coaches also selected Kyle LeClerc of Sage as the 2014 Defensive Player of the Year, Mount Saint Vincent's Dennis Reyes as Rookie of the Year and Kevin Longacre of Mount Saint Mary as Coach of the Year.

Garcia ranks third in the Skyline in both goals (10) and points (24) as Mount Saint Mary captured the league's regular season crown with an 8-1 record.  The senior forward from Wappingers Falls, N.Y., leads the Knights with 59 shots and his 27 career goals are tops in program history.  Garcia earned Skyline Player of the Week honors on Oct. 27 and was a first-team All-Conference selection a year ago.

A sophomore defender, LeClerc anchors a Sage defense that has allowed a league-low 17 goals – including just six in league play - and registered shutouts in eight of its 16 contests this season.  The Beacon, N.Y., resident has compiled four goals and one assist on the year as the Gators earned the No. 2 seed in the 2014 Skyline Championship.

Reyes leads the conference with 21 goals, a program single-season record.  The freshman forward and first-team All-Conference selection from Waldwick, N.J., has tallied four game-winning goals and five assists while earning three Rookie of the Week citations in 2014.

Joining Garcia, Reyes and LeClerc on the All-Conference first-team are teammates Aaron Braun and Itamar Ben David of Yeshiva; Farmingdale State's Vincent Danetti and J.T. Famularo; Stephen Ehresman and Chris Marchese of Mount Saint Mary; and Pater Fabrykiewicz, Gustavo Trinidad and TJ Zehner of Sage.

The second-team All-Conference includes Justin Heredia and Cody Kull of St. Joseph's-L.I.; Maritime's Tim Swinehart and Karl Weber; Myles Clohessy, Anthony Iurillo and Junior Sanguina of Purchase; Farmingdale State's Victor Romero; Christian Pinti of Sage; Old Westbury's Adan Cruz-Velasquez; and Michael Ennis and Austin Peluso of Mount Saint Mary.

Now in his fourth season at Mount Saint Mary, Longacre has guided the top-seeded Knights (11-4-2) to an 8-1 mark in conference play as the program seeks its second consecutive Skyline title.  A 1993 graduate of the University of Richmond, Longacre also garnered Skyline Coach of the Year distinction in 2012.  He boasts a 42-28-7 overall record at MSMC.
