Newburgh, NY| The St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team was shutout, 2-0, by Mount St. Mary College in its 2016 Skyline Conference campaign opener on the road on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Golden Eagles fall to 0-5 (0-1) on the year as the Knights improved to 2-5 (1-0).

After a scoreless first half, the Knights broke the deadlock when Eric Hayes threaded a through ball to Joseph Sadofsky, who converted in front of goal in the 66th minute.

Mount St. Mary's would double its lead in the 87th minute when Joey Dolan served up a cross into the box, which found the foot of Bereket Watts.

The Golden Eagles were held without a shot in the final three minutes before succumbing to the 2-0 defeat.

SJC keeper Avery Gomez was credited with two saves on the afternoon, and Justin Busto generated a team-best two shots.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, October 20 when they welcome Yeshiva University to Danzi Stadium for a 5:30 PM match. Live stats will be available here.
