Brian O'Sullivan and Eddie Whalen Named to Second-Team All-Conference

Written by Joshua Soto (SJC-LI Sports Information)

New York, NY| Seniors Brian O'Sullivan and Eddie Whalen earned Second-Team accolades as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team collected a pair of end-of-season Skyline Conference awards, which were announced on the conference website on Monday afternoon.

For O'Sullivan it's his second All-Conference selection in as many years, having appeared on the First-Team last season. In his final season with the Golden Eagles, O'Sullivan appeared in all 18 matches as both a defender and central midfielder. In 2016, he led the team in shots (55), shots on goal (22), assists (5), and points (13), and finished second in goals (4). The Manorville, NY native tallied his only multiple-goal game of his career on October 7, when he scored twice in a 3-0 win over SJC-Brooklyn.

Whalen is a first-time All-Skyline Team member following a season in which he had been the Golden Eagles most consistent defender. The right back appeared in all 18 matches this season, registering four shots on the year. He helped anchor the St. Joseph's backline holding its opponents to a .165 shooting percentage.
