Duda’s Double Sees Men’s Soccer Past SJC-Brooklyn

Patchogue, NY| Junior Damian Duda scored twice as the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team defeated St. Joseph's College (Brkln), 3-1, at Danzi Stadium on Wednesday evening.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 6-6-1 overall on the year and 4-2-1 in Skyline Conference play. The Bears slide to 4-10-0 (1-4-0 Skyline).

Despite being outplayed and outshot in the first half, the Golden Eagles took the lead against the run of play nine seconds before the break when senior Kyle Conway beat the Brooklyn keeper, Alejandro Oliveros far side from the right.

Duda would score his fourth goal of the season in the 68th minute to double the hosts' lead (2-0), but five minutes later the Bears brought the game back to within one when Brandon Georges struck from outside the box (2-1).

Duda capped the evening's scoring in the 89th minute with a solo effort in which he beat the Brooklyn keeper 1-v-1 and clinched the 3-1 win for the Golden Eagles.

SJC keeper Tyler Flaherty (6-6-1) made seven saves--five of which came in the first half--in a match that saw his side outshot marginally, 23-22.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, October 17 when they host Stockton for a non-conference contest at 7:00 pm.
