Duda Collects CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

CoSIDA Release

Patchogue, NY| Junior forward Damian Duda of the St. Joseph's College (L.I.) men's soccer team was named to the 2018 Google Cloud College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First-Team on Thursday when the organization announced its selections.

Duda, a psychology major with a 3.768 cumulative GPA, becomes the first player in program history to earn the honor and advances to the national Academic All-America Ballot. The selections "recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom."

Having appeared in 18 games this season, Duda finished second on the team in goals (7) and points (20) and established career-highs in both categories. The Riverhead, NY native's six assists were tops for an SJC side that posted an 8-9-1 overall record.

Among Skyline Conference leaders, Duda finished sixth in total points and points-per-game (1.11) and was seventh in total assists.

Duda posted three or more points in five games this season, including two-goal performances in a 3-1 win over St. Joseph's College (Brkln) on October 10 and a 3-2 loss to Farmingdale State on October 17.

A Skyline All-Conference Second-Team selection for the second year in a row, Duda was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week on October 15 and was named to the Skyline Conference Weekly Honor Roll on October 1 and October 22.

Duda's success in the classroom was rewarded with Skyline Conference Academic Honor Roll recognition last fall. He represents one of the three Skyline Conference student-athletes named to the All-District team from region three, which encompasses schools from New York.
