The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's soccer team cruised to a 7-1 non-conference victory over Pratt in Sunday's season opener.
Top performers
- Sophomore forward Vincent Mariani scored three goals on five shots
- Freshman Lucas Pelaez came on as a substitute as scored one goal and was credited with two assists in his collegiate debut
- Junior transfer Connor Owenburg was credited with two assists in his SJNY debut
- Sophomore defender Daniel Dacos had one goal and one assist
How it happened
- The Golden Eagles scored early and often. Mariani tallied his first two goals at 4:48 and 11:16 (2-0)
- Pelaez had an immediate impact, scoring at 31:40 (3-0)--moments after being introduced--and assisting on James Dacos' (4-0) goal 45 seconds later
- Mariani got his hat-trick goal at 73:32 (6-1) and Nick Pensavalle wrapped the scoring (7-1) at 75:00

- Five Golden Eagles registered their first points at St. Joseph's (D. Dacos, Owenburg, Pelaez, Pensavalle, and Anthony Guzzone
