Brandon Abbatiello Named ECAC Metro Men's Tennis Player of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced the Corvias ECAC winners of Men's Tennis weekly honors in Divisions I, II and III for the week ending April 20, 2014.

Division III - Metro

Brandon Abbatiello – St. Joseph's College (LI)
Senior, Shoreham, NY 

Abbatiello went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and won both of his matches at the second doubles flight as St. Joseph's-L.I. notched victories over NYU-Poly (5-4) and Staten Island (7-2). He won a critical 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 decision on April 17 as the Golden Eagles edged NYU-Poly to secure the final spot in the upcoming Skyline Championship. He rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 win on April 18 versus Staten Island. 

Division III - New England

Justin DeLuca – Nichols College
Senior, Mashpee, Mass.

DeLuca went a perfect 2-0 at No. 1 singles and at No. 1 doubles last week as the Bison recorded two conference victories. In a 9-0 win over Wentworth, DeLuca claimed a 6-0, 6-0 victory in singles and an 8-1 win in doubles with partner Brandon Roode. In a 9-0 win over Endicott, the senior recorded a 6-0, 6-0 singles win and an 8-2 victory in doubles, which put him number one All-Time in Nichols College history for doubles wins in a career (58).

Division III - Upstate

Oliver Loutsenko – Skidmore College
Senior, Bellmore, N.Y.

Loutsenko returned to singles play after an injury that had sidelined him since March to lead the Thoroughbreds to an 5-4 upset win over defending national champion and No. 5 ranked Williams College. Loutsenko beat regionally ranked No. 4 Matt Micheli 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 at number one singles and had an 8-0 win at number one doubles with Danny Knight.

Division III - South

Matthew Muoio - Albright College
Freshman, West Chester, Pa.

Muoio surrendered just one game in winning for the fifth straight match at first singles (6-1, 6-0) against Lycoming. He also won his third straight win at first doubles, partnering up with Ken Richardson for an 8-0 victory.
