Men's Tennis Selected Fourth in Skyline Preseason Poll

NEW YORK, N.Y. – St. Joseph's College finished fourth in a Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Preseason Poll conducted by the league's seven head coaches.  Coming off its first-ever Skyline championship season and NCAA appearance, Yeshiva has been selected to defend its Skyline men's tennis title in the voting.

The Maccabees earned five first-place votes and 35 overall points, while Farmingdale State finished second in the voting with 29 total points.

St. Joseph's finished fourth in the voting with 21 total points, followed by Purchase (15), Sarah Lawrence (12) and Sage (8). The Golden Eagles return former All-Skyline player Matt Reed, Alexander Fisher, Stephen Fox, Chris Corrao, Tom O'Keefe and Denzil Charles.

YU compiled a 13-3 mark a year ago and will be led in 2015 by senior Igal Mostkov.  The Winnipeg, Manitoba, resident was a perfect 11-0 at the No. 1 singles flight last season en route to earning Skyline Player of the Year honors and was tabbed the Most Outstanding Player of the 2014 Skyline Championship.

FSC welcomes back a pair of All-Conference returnees in sophomore Tyler Danzy and junior Kevin Palacios.  Danzy, the 2014 Skyline Rookie of the Year, posted a 9-3 record at the No. 1 singles position, while Palacios amassed six wins in singles competition and five victories in doubles action.

Led by first-year head coach Eric Sturgis, Mount Saint Mary garnered one first-place vote and placed third in the poll with 28 overall points.  MSMC compiled a 13-4 overall record a year ago and captured the league's regular season crown with a 6-0 mark.

The semifinals of the four-team 2015 Skyline Men's Tennis Championship will be held on Wednesday, Apr. 22, with the finals scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 25.  The champion will receive the league's automatic berth to the 2015 NCAA Championship.

The Skyline also welcomes its newest member, Sarah Lawrence College, to the conference this season.  SLC will play every member institution in 2015 but will not be eligible for Skyline and NCAA Championship participation as it completes its final year of NCAA Division III provisional membership.
